Burningbird’s recent outline of her photo workflow has got me back to thinking about a problem for which I don’t know of any ready-made solution.

Have your heard of any way to version photos? I’m looking for a way to separate versions of the original image and subsequent modified versions and still keep them associated to one another.

I could save cvs binary versions, but that’s cumbersome. Even a naming scheme can help. The fact is that none of these things really are integrated into any photo management software that I’ve used. I’m looking for something to manage the library as a whole, and makes cloning of metadata easy. The only software that I know of that does things like this are digital library repositories, which are a bit cumbersome for something specific like photography.

One of the reasons posts were sparse last month was I was vacationing in California for a couple days and then driving across the country, and moving my lovely girl here to Michigan. The dust has settled, and I’ve caught my breath, so here’s the best of the photos from our cross country trip.

There would have been more, but we did a vast majority of the trip at night. Sadly, I must report that the camera battery died as we drove through the most gorgeous part of the trip, Utah. Imagine the beauty of red-rocks in Arizona and multiply them by infinity.
